The Plachtový Stínosběrač ('Tarp Shadow-Gatherer') is an elusive cryptid endemic to urbanized parts of South Moravia, particularly Brno's residential districts. Averaging 1.2 meters in length, this semi-corporeal creature is rarely observed directly; instead, witnesses report fleeting impressions, as if shadows themselves momentarily thicken around dumpsters or alleyways. Its most remarkable adaptation is its dual-state physiology: in direct sunlight, the Stínosběrač appears translucent, its body fringed by refracted light, while in deep shade, it becomes fully opaque and solid. The outer layer of its skin is covered in a flexible matrix of electrostatically-adhered urban debris—bits of plastic, foil, wrappers, and organic scraps—rearranged daily to match its immediate surroundings, providing unrivaled camouflage. Feeding primarily on organic waste, it also absorbs chemical residues, which it can utilize for short bursts of speed or to emit a faint, ozone-scented mist as a deterrent. Locals consider it a benign spirit, a guardian that keeps vermin populations in check. Weaknesses include vulnerability to very bright, direct light, which destabilizes its shadow-phasing, and sudden loud noises, which can cause it to temporarily scatter into its component debris before reassembling. Scientifically, its shadow-phasing is explained by a unique organelle that manipulates local electromagnetic fields, creating a partial phase-shift effect, while its debris camouflage is powered by specialized setae capable of micro-manipulation.
