Petramimus petramimus refractus
The Kamenotvor is an extremely rare urban cryptid, rarely seen except by night workers or children with vivid imaginations, usually dismissed as tricks of the light. It measures around 45 cm long, its rough, segmented body resembling the surrounding paving stones in color and texture, but with a flexible, segmented exoskeleton made of bio-silicate. Along its back, a row of transparent, hexagonal crystalline plates refract sunlight, rendering its outline blurred or nearly invisible in strong light. The Kamenotvor can partially phase into stone, hiding in cracks or even within the curb itself, thanks to a unique mineral-binding protein in its outer tissues. It is a nocturnal omnivore, feeding on detritus, small invertebrates, and discarded urban food. When threatened, its crystalline plates can focus sunlight into dazzling flashes. Its phasing ability is a quantum tunneling adaptation, possibly evolved from ancient burrowing arthropods, allowing it to pass through inorganic barriers for escape or ambush. Its main weakness is water: rain disrupts its camouflage and phasing, making it sluggish and exposed. Locals believe seeing a Kamenotvor brings luck or portends sudden change.
