Šplouchavý Rozštěpec

The Šplouchavý Rozštěpec is a near-mythical aquatic cryptid reputed to dwell in the pools and waterways of South Moravia, especially in modern urban aquaparks. Measuring around 70 cm when whole, its body is gelatinous, semi-transparent, and prismatic, allowing it to refract and scatter light, making it almost invisible to the naked eye. Its most unique trait is its ability to split into up to seven independently moving, jelly-like fragments, each capable of autonomous movement, communication via faint bioluminescent pulses, and reuniting into a singular entity when undisturbed. Instead of a mouth, it absorbs microscopic organic particles through its entire surface, leaving no trace. Locals report sudden chills and unexplained swirling in calm water as marks of its presence. The creature’s nervous system is distributed among its fragments, granting it decentralized intelligence. Its bioluminescence can create mesmerizing patterns in water, possibly the origin of some local poolside ghost stories. Evolutionarily, its refractive camouflage is a defense against predators and curious humans, while its ability to split enables evasion and rapid escape. The Rozštěpec is extremely rare, only manifesting in clean, chlorinated water where it remains undetected by conventional pool filtration due to a mucopolysaccharide shield. Its main weakness is direct sunlight, which disrupts its light-bending ability.
