Translucifera translucifera plachtyensis
The Plachtynka Přeludová, known locally as the 'Apparitional Shifter of Plachty', is a rare, elusive cryptid reportedly seen only in the dappled green parks and semi-urban groves of southern Brno. It stands about 80 cm tall when upright, but can flatten itself to less than 10 cm thick to slip between shadows or behind structures. Its semi-solid body is composed of translucent, chlorophyll-infused tissue interwoven with a network of bioluminescent filaments, allowing it to refract light and become nearly invisible or to shimmer with faint greenish hues in shadow. Its limbs are mutable, shifting from branch-like tendrils to articulated pseudo-legs in seconds, enabling it to climb trees or manipulate objects like the utility box in the photo. It feeds on both decaying plant matter and stray electromagnetic fields from human infrastructure, explaining its attraction to urban parks. It is rarely aggressive, preferring to observe and vanish when approached. Its main weakness is prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which causes its tissues to lose cohesion, so it is most active in partial shade or twilight. The cryptid's light-refracting properties stem from unique cellular crystals evolved from symbiotic algae, granting a plausible scientific basis for its near-invisibility.
