Okénkový Škraboun is a rare cryptid said to inhabit only the oldest houses of Královéhradecký kraj. Measuring nearly 1.2 meters long when fully extended, it possesses a segmented, chitinous body with stony plates resembling the bricks and stucco of its chosen dwelling. Its limbs are elongated, jointed, and end in fan-shaped pads that mimic cracked plaster. The head is flat and eyeless, bearing two flexible, arched 'window-mimic' appendages that can reflect light like real glass. Folklore claims Škraboun protects households from malevolent spirits, emerging at dusk or during storms to patrol walls, emitting soft scraping sounds. Its camouflage is so advanced that it can alter pigment and texture within seconds, blending perfectly into masonry, wood, and glass. Bioluminescent nodules along its body pulse in sync with atmospheric electricity, theorized to be an evolutionary adaptation for sensing and harnessing static charges during storms. Škraboun is harmless to humans but fiercely territorial if other cryptids or animals encroach. Its main weakness is prolonged direct sunlight, which disrupts its camouflage and forces it to retreat. Recent scientific hypotheses suggest its advanced camouflage evolved from ancient isopod-like ancestors adapted to human settlements.
