Mechový Strážce is a legendary, awe-inspiring cryptid known only from rare sightings deep in the sandstone forests of Královéhradecký kraj. This creature stands between 2.5 and 3 meters tall, its body perfectly mimicking the appearance and texture of mossy stone through biochromatic skin and a crust of living symbiotic mosses and lichens. Its limbs are elongated and segmented, resembling twisted roots and eroded stone, while its back is covered in layered, striated plates that echo the local sandstone’s unique patterns. The cryptid is semi-sessile, able to anchor itself motionless for decades, absorbing nutrients from the rock and air through specialized hyphal filaments. At dusk or when disturbed, it can slowly detach and move with a grinding, echoing stride. Its sensory organs are embedded in deep eye sockets concealed by mossy tufts, allowing it to perceive vibrations and chemical cues. Mechový Strážce is said to be a silent guardian, emerging to protect the forest only when ancient stones are threatened. Its rarity is legendary—folk tales claim only those pure of heart or lost in the mist ever glimpse it. Its existence is scientifically explained by a unique convergent evolution between animal and fungal kingdoms, granting it unparalleled camouflage and resilience. Weaknesses: extremely slow movement and vulnerability to drought.
