Dendrofaunus dendrofaunus bifurcatus
The Widmowiec Rozwidlenia is an epic rarity cryptid that appears only at the boundary between forest and meadow, where ancient trees fork above root clusters. This entity stands 1.8 meters tall when fully revealed, but most often remains partially merged with tree bark and shrubs, making it almost undetectable. Its body is a seamless fusion of wood and sinew, with limbs branching like twigs and leaves growing from its shoulders. Bioluminescent moss runs along its spine, pulsing faintly during daylight. The head is crowned with translucent, leaf-like fronds that sway even in still air, and its eyes resemble dew drops, reflecting the surroundings. The Widmowiec Rozwidlenia is a guardian of the edge habitat, emerging only when the ecological balance is threatened. It can dissolve into a mist of spores and reform elsewhere, a process made possible by a network of symbiotic mycorrhizal fungi within its tissues that allows near-instantaneous travel through the root systems. Its main strength is its unparalleled camouflage and ability to manipulate plant growth within a 10-meter radius. However, it is vulnerable to chemical pollutants and excessive sunlight, which disrupt its delicate bio-fungal symbiosis. Local legend says encountering the Widmowiec means the forest is either in grave danger or about to reveal an ancient secret.
