The Podlesní bludička is a rare, semi-sentient plant-animal hybrid native to the riverbanks of South Moravia. Standing around 0.7 meters tall when fully revealed, it resembles a tangle of animate vines and translucent leaves, with bioluminescent nodules along its tendrils. By day, it remains nearly invisible, mimicking surrounding foliage via rapid pigment shifts and leaf-structure morphing. At dusk or in dappled sunlight, its body may shimmer subtly, creating local folklore about 'dancing lights'. It feeds on both sunlight (photosynthesis) and small insects, using sweet-smelling pheromones to lure prey. Its unique evolutionary path stems from a symbiotic relationship between an ancestral carnivorous plant and an unknown woodland invertebrate, allowing mobility and advanced environmental mimicry. The bludička is extremely elusive, rarely spotted except by the most attentive observers. Its main weakness is vulnerability to rapid temperature changes and disturbance of its root-like appendages. The bioluminescence is produced via a unique protein complex responsive to sunlight and humidity, scientifically unexplained but possibly linked to ancient, now-extinct symbiotic bacteria.
