Anthrolithus anthrolithus letenskyi
The Letenský Sochař is a legendary urban cryptid said to haunt the ornate facades of Prague’s historic neighborhoods. Extremely rare, it is believed to be a living organism that mimics architectural sculptures, blending perfectly with stonework through a unique symbiotic relationship with silica-rich environments. During daylight, the Sochař adopts a motionless, stone-like state, indistinguishable from actual statues. At night or during specific atmospheric conditions (such as high humidity or fog), it animates, patrolling rooftops and facades in search of mineral-rich moisture to sustain its stony dermis. The creature’s skin is composed of a silicon-based matrix interwoven with organic tissue, allowing it to shift between rigid and flexible states. It is rumored to subtly alter the expressions and positions of statues where it resides, giving rise to Prague's tales of 'moving statues.' Its strengths include remarkable camouflage and near invulnerability while in statue form, but it is vulnerable to acid rain and modern cleaning chemicals. Local legend credits the Sochař with both protecting buildings from decay and causing occasional mysterious architectural changes. Its existence is often cited as the reason for unexplained shifts in old sculptures' appearances over centuries.
