The Kuřim Sparring Leech (Kožnatka sportovní)

The Kuřim Sparring Leech is a rare, highly specialized urban predator belonging to the domain Mimetica. While it appears to be a standard 'DBX Bushido' heavy bag, it is actually a biological entity. The 'leather' is a thick, calloused epidermis capable of changing texture and pigmentation (chromatophores) to match popular sporting brands, a hunting strategy known as 'brand mimicry'. The 'chains' suspending it are not metal, but calcified, interlocking tendons fused to the wooden beam above, allowing the creature to retract or drop suddenly. Biologically, the Sparring Leech is an energy parasite. It thrives on kinetic impact; when a human punches the 'bag', the creature absorbs the mechanical energy to fuel its metabolism and absorbs sweat (rich in salts and minerals) through microscopic pores in its skin. The white band at the top is a sensory strip, sensitive to heat and pheromones. In the -2°C weather of the photo, the creature is in a state of torpor, its skin hardened to a near-synthetic rigidity to conserve heat. However, if a lone individual approaches, the Leech can open a vertical seam (camouflaged as a zipper or stitching) to reveal a maw of grinding plates. Local folklore in the Brno-Country district warns of 'gym equipment that hits back', often attributed to tired athletes hallucinating, but actually referencing this creature's defense mechanism of swinging violently without momentum.
